How does becoming a Rascal change children's lives?
Having the chance to meet one of their idols, battling them in an exciting and hilarious game improves the child's self-esteem as they connect with someone they look up to and aspire to be. Having an influential figure truly believe in them, not only acts to reduce youth suicide, but boost children's self-confidence to chase their dreams. Featuring in an episode with celebrities also changes the light in which other children at school view those with special needs, which in turn reduces the bullying.
CHOOSE WHICH CHILD WILL FEATURE IN OUR NEXT EPISODE
The nomination form finds out not only the child’s special needs and the current bullying being experienced but also their dreams, aspirations, and what makes them tick.
All requests are vetted to ensure that we act within ACNC regulations. ICANIWILL can assist only those students with special needs that are being bullied or deemed to be at risk.
Once approved, the ICANIWILL team create an online profile for each child, advertising flyers, and personal marketing and fundraising strategies for each family.
Families receive a Parent Pack giving them the tools to empower their community to stand behind having their child featured in an episode. ICANIWILL, the family and the community fundraise to make this a reality.
Engaging famous ambassadors and celebs are integral. They represent what is cool to school children and who they look up to and respect. They also act to share the episode to the greatest reach of people for awareness.
FUndraising and organising each episode can take between 1 to 11 months from nomination to featuring, we ask that all details be kept secret from the child. ICANIWILL then has a very special way of surprising the child of their experience.
Each episode is shot over 1-3 days depending on the feature. There can be 14+ parties involved and 60+ individuals, from accommodation to dining, ambassadors, celebs, media, staff, volunteers, photographers & videographers.
All Rascals become ICANIWILL Ambassadors and get opportunities to speak at events and become role models within their school, advocating against bullying by standing up for other students in a similar situation..
It is important that we have a good relationship with the school to take the edited videotape of the Celeb vs Rascal episode to present at show’n’tell to change the way the child is viewed by their peers, to stop the bullying.
ICANIWILL asks that each Rascal stays in contact at least once a month so that the team can assist the child with their longer term development, building resilience, their confidence & self-esteem.
There are many ways you can help create life changing experiences for children who have gone through a particularly hard time.
